Yesterday, between 4am GMT Friday 30th November to 4am GMT Saturday 1st December Jean-Pierre Dick (Virbac Paprec 3) travelled from point to point, 498.80 miles in twenty-four hours, averaging speeds of 20.8 knots. This breaks the record Record #sailingrecord held previously by Alex Thomson in 2003 and, also the record Record #sailingrecord set the day before, subject to ratification, by François Gabart (MACIF), of 482.91 miles in 24hrs.

Confirmation of the record Record #sailingrecord is subject to validation by the WSSRC (World Speed Sailing Record Record #sailingrecord Council).

Jean-Pierre Dick : « I broke Thomson’s record ? I did not know that. That’s funny because, two years ago, we already broke it at the same place with. Loïck Peyron. If you add to this news, the first place at the rankings, December starts very well ! »

Later, it will be 502,3 nautic miles in 24 hours for Virbac - Patrec 3’ skipper...
